Christine Tacon was the first UK Groceries Code Adjudicator and her role was to encourage, monitor compliance with and enforce the UK Groceries Supply Code of Practice which became legally binding in February 2010. Christine stood down in October after 7 years in the post.
The desire to regulate the way retailers treat their suppliers has become a media hot topic in Canada in recent months and Christine has been engaged by FHCP to use her UK experience to assist with progressing a Canadian code and regulator.

Christine Tacon, CBE UK Groceries Code Adjudicator Christine Tacon is best known as the first Groceries Code Adjudicator, a role she finished in October 2020. She achieved significant cultural change in nearly 8 years in office, bringing greater fairness for producers supplying the UK's largest supermarkets. She adopted a collaborative approach to the role and two 3-yearly government reviews concluded the GCA was "an exemplary model of a modern regulator with an international reputation" and "highly effective". |
