AGENDA

8:30 AM - 9:30 AM  | Registration Open & Buffet Breakfast

9:30 AM – 9:40 AM |  Opening Remarks

9:40 AM – 10:10 AM |  Economic Outlook: Russian-Ukraine Conflict Further Muddies the Waters

Growth prospects are coming under pressure from the Russian-Ukraine conflict, soaring commodity prices and renewed supply chain disruptions.
To add to the pressure, central banks are turning their attention to addressing inflation through monetary tightening. Despite these headwinds on output and spending, economic expansion is likely to continue in the coming quarters. Inflation rates should come down as consumer demand rotates from goods to services. Moreover, households will continue to benefit from tight job market conditions and excess savings.

Reshoring to Strengthen Canada's Supply Chain

As companies look at building supply chain resilience, the option of reshoring is on the table.
Hear experts from the US and Canada share first-hand how numerous companies have repatriated some of their manufacturing efforts and what the focus should be to smooth out our supply chains.

Harry Moser, Founder of the Reshoring Initiative USA, will share how they are assisting companies in making sourcing decisions by providing valuable tools and resources for calculating the total cost of their products, improving balance sheets, and making product innovations more effective.

Sandra Pupatello, former member of provincial parliament and fervent supporter of Canadian manufacturing, is now Co-Chair, Reshoring Canada. Sandra will share why Canada needs reshoring today and the results of the organization’s recently launched countrywide survey to identify supply chain challenges faced by industry partners in several sectors of the Canadian economy.

2:00 PM – 2:40 PM | It's Time to Go Electric: The Tech, Vehicles and Trends Enabling Zero-Emissions Fleets

There are mounting consumer, corporate and policy pressures to clean up our supply chains in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, with transportation representing a large percentage of those emissions. More importantly, transitioning to zero-emission vehicles can see first-mover companies save on cost of ownership, improve driver retention and speed the path to digitization and efficiency. But what are the right steps to transition to electric? This session will share key trends in fleet vehicles electrification, telematics and energy management that are enabling the transformation, along with a roadmap for success.

Join Ilana Weitzman and Nino Di Cara as they discuss electrifying transportation for a cleaner, safer and more economical supply chain:

  • The economic and safety benefits of BEVs (battery-electric vehicles)
  • The business risks to late-adopters

3:05 PM – 3:50 PM | The Burnout Gamble: Achieve More by Beating Burnout & Building Resilience

Burnout was a problem long before the COVID-19 pandemic. But as of March 2020, it became rampant, seemingly overnight.

According to a recent survey of more than 13,000 professionals, 71% of respondents indicated experiencing full-blown burnout at least once during the past two years. Those whose work intersects with the local and global supply chains have become all too familiar with the debilitating stress caused by the pandemic.

In his timely talk, Hamza Khan directly counters the overwhelm affecting people around the world, especially those in essential sectors. Khan argues that the answer to better sustainable productivity isn't more hours - it's less waste and fewer things that include distraction and persistent stress.

More than ever, Canadians need the people who compose our supply chains to burn bright, and not out. It's time to emerge from the chaos of COVID-19 with a focus on replenishing our inner resources.
