From Scarcity to Precarity: Consumer Behaviour and Preferences Today

Today’s consumer is navigating a world defined by instability, where the shift from a scarcity mindset to one of precarity is transforming how choices are made. Price and preference no longer dominate—emotion, identity, and uncertainty now play leading roles

Beliefs, values, and even national pride are woven into everyday purchasing decisions. Economic unease is fueling a turn toward patriotism and nationalism, pulling consumers away from purely rational, cost-based thinking. To truly understand the modern consumer is to grasp how personal and political forces are reshaping behaviour—and why connection now demands more than just competitive pricing.

Building a High-Performance Team

When teams thrive, they elevate everyone to a level they didn't know was possible.

When teams struggle, they create dynamics and challenges that limit performance. How do you create a culture of excellence? How do you build a high-performing team?

NAIA National Coach of the Year, Ivan Joseph, cracked the code. He led a tiny college in Iowa to win a national soccer championship. He led a marginal university athletic program to national prominence. He has mentored coaches to Olympic and World Championship success.

Sharing funny and moving stories and research-based insights, Ivan inspires leaders and teams to achieve even their toughest goals. Self-confidence, cohesion and expectations drive team performance.

Ivan's approach works: Leaders and teams see immediate impact.

In this fast-paced, interactive session, leaders gain insights and techniques to:

  • Articulate common values and a shared sense of purpose.
  • Create team cohesion with practical exercises that elevate team performance.
  • Recover from setbacks with new coping skills that unlock your team’s ability to set and meet higher levels of expectations.

Navigating the Pressure Points to Find Growth

Canadians' financial concerns are driving them to make cost-saving decisions which continues to impact the Consumer-Packaged Goods sector. The introduction of tariffs is exacerbating these concerns, pushing Canadians to prioritize savings fueled by patriotic brand choices. Inflationary concerns are back: April’s CPG inflation rate rang in at the highest rate of increase in 17 months. Faced with higher prices, consumption growth will be challenged as consumers continue to seek value both on price and convenience.
