The waves of change may be unpredictable, but as leaders we can learn to ride them and plan accordingly. We need to work together to navigate the unexpected. Whether it be consumer behaviour or new regulations. Just as a surfer knows when to paddle out and when to ride the crest of a wave, we too must know when to take risks and when to stay the course.

This year's conference is all about staying resilient amid a world of change, learning from each other to be agile and open-minded and embracing new ideas and ways forward.

Prepare to immerse yourself in the power of change at
FHCP's CEO & Executive Leadership Conference.

AGENDA

Thursday, October 12, 2023

11:45 AM - 12:45 PM - Registration & Lunch

1:00 PM - 1:10 PM - Opening Remarks

1:10 PM - 2:00 PM - Harnessing the Tides: Transforming Supply Chains with Emerging Technologies in Canada's Food, Health, and Consumer Products Sectors

As 'Waves of Change' wash over Canada's food, health, and consumer products industries, mastering the currents of Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and the Internet of Things can mean the difference between drifting and direction.

With his unique approach, Jack will navigate these transformative technologies, discussing their current adoption, future potential, and how we can ride this technological tide to bolster supply chain efficiency, resilience, and competitiveness. Embrace change, harness innovation, and chart the course for a prosperous, tech-enabled future.

2:00 PM - 2:50 PM - Navigating the Perfect Storm: Understanding Today's Consumer and Political Landscape

In the face of today's tumultuous economic and social climate, we stand on the cusp of a critical juncture. Unprecedented challenges such as relentless inflation, rising interest rates, a daunting housing crisis, and heightened apprehension about climate change have ushered in a deep sense of insecurity among consumers that hasn't been seen in over three decades - especially among Millennials and Gen Z who haven't experienced anything like this before.

As a ripple effect, the Canadian political landscape is also undergoing seismic shifts. Political opinions are evolving, with policy leaders seeking solutions that often clash with industry priorities. At no point has the interests of business misaligned more with those of political leaders. Manufacturers, shippers, and retailers – they all find their reputations teetering at the edge of these transformative currents.

Enter Dr. David Coletto, one of Canada's premier pollsters and social researchers. Renowned for his incisive commentary, David's expertise is sought after by all major Canadian news outlets, and he is the official pollster for the Toronto Star.

In this enlightening session, David will unveil brand-new research, commissioned by FHCP, delving into the nexus of these pressing issues. This research promises to provide invaluable insights for executives, shedding light on the intertwining of consumer sentiment with political opinions. By the end, you will appreciate the paramount importance of centering the consumer mindset in your strategic decisions, ensuring your brand remains both relevant and resilient when speaking to consumer, stakeholders, and government decision makers.

3:20 PM - 4:05 PM - Leveraging Global Trends to Create a Competitive Innovative Advantage

When it comes to globalization, the rules have changed. The economic rise of China and other emerging players is challenging western companies in new ways and redefining competitiveness, globally and domestically. While economies and supply chain dependencies are still very intertwined, there is also a power shift and geopolitical divide which is disrupting 'business as usual'.

Innovation is influencing and accelerating the climb up the economic ladder by nations and companies. Canada is trending downwards on the Global Innovation Index report. Western companies must change the way they do business, and push innovation beyond the product and into every aspect of every operation - they need to be innovative at innovation.

New innovation models, revolutionary technologies and disruptive thinking are applied in different ways by leaders worldwide, seeking to improve productivity, gain efficiencies and accelerate time to market. Learn how to respond, survive and thrive to gain a competitive edge or get left behind.

4:05 PM - 5:00 PM - Lead Like A Champion

Seven world championships, six Olympic appearances, five Olympic medals and one of the best female hockey players in the world - Hayley Wickenheiser is a titan of sport and a leader both on and off the ice. She is also a highly respected philanthropist, member of the Order of Canada, resident physician, and assistant general manager for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In this captivating session, Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser delves into the heart of what it takes to excel, both as a champion on the ice and as a visionary leader in business.
