11:45 AM - 12:45 PM - Registration & Lunch

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM - Shaping The Enterprise Of The Future

Advancing into this transformative new era can be challenging, especially as structures and tactics put in place to reduce risk in the 20th Century are now often the very things creating vulnerability in the 21st Century. It's not easy to let go of the playbook we're all used to, but the future demands we release outdated "best practices" and instead learn to sense and respond in real time. Why? Simply put, there are several very big shifts happening simultaneously that are reshaping business and society - that will require equally big shifts in how we respond - especially if we intend to remain relevant in the years ahead.

Nancy Giordano | Strategic Futurist, Author, Gatherer, Founder, playbiginc

2:00 PM - 2:55 PM - The Human Side of Unconscious Bias

First impressions, positive or negative, are made in seven seconds or less. We all make quick assessments of others without even realizing it. We are not born with bias. Biases are formed by past situations, experiences, background, and culture. Unconscious biases typically exist towards gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability (both physical and mental), and weight. Most of us will say “I see people for who they are” but do we?

Tina Varughese, an Indo-Canadian daughter of first generation East Indian parents says her cultural background allows her to find “the best of both worlds” and shed light, knowledge, and, most importantly, universal humour into the changing workplace.

Recognizing, managing, and mitigating unconscious bias promotes diversity and inclusion which drives innovation, increases productivity, and stimulates creativity while promoting a healthy, happy, and engaging workplace culture. Unconscious biases affect and impact decision making both professionally and personally with real impact.

In this highly entertaining, interactive, and practical session, Tina will leave attendees inspired to think, behave, act, and communicate with intention.

Tina Varughese | Cross-Cultural Communication and Diversity Expert

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM - The 3 P's of Sustainability

People, Planet, Profit, is often referred to as the triple bottom line.
Achieving the right balance between social responsibility (people), environmental friendliness (planet), economic profitability (profit) and principles, are the key concepts behind successful sustainable organizations.

The very definition of sustainability means fulfilling the needs of current generations without compromising the needs of future generations, while ensuring a balance between economic growth, environmental care and social well-being.

An executive panel of industry leaders share the stage for an open dialogue on the 3 P's of Sustainability, offering insights and perspective that will help you understand how the three dimensions only come into their own when all three are clearly important in business operations.

9:00 AM - 9:50 AM - Understanding Mental Health: The Good, the Bad and the Funny

The stress and isolation of COVID-19 has led to higher rates of burnout and presenteeism. The negative stigma surrounding mental illness leads to more unnecessary suffering for the one in five working Canadians dealing with mental health conditions.

It's time to talk. But discussing mental health doesn't have to be heavy or burdensome.

Mental health advocate and Comedian, Jessica Holmes breaks down the stigma by using heart and humour to share her experience with depression. She weaves comedy and characters to bring understanding and hope to a serious subject, describing how she went from successful entertainer who opened for Oprah Winfrey to couch potato who slept more than the cat!

Holmes' story, which has a deeply happy ending, leaves you with a better understanding of mental illness, more empathy and understanding for those suffering with it.

9:50 AM - 10:40 AM - The Bold Ones - Strategy in a World of Disruption

The business world has fundamentally changed forever. The growth and adoption of new technologies is at a dizzying pace. Customer and employee expectations have been pushed forward 10 years due to the pandemic. We are now looking for leaders to be fearless in a world of uncertainty.

These drivers are forcing everyone to reimagine their entire organizations. How do we navigate the Great Resignation? How do you tackle mounting customer expectations? How do we disrupt ourselves before someone else does? Today, we need to be bold, brave and experimental.

Shawn Kanungo provides a bold, unique and contrarian view of the near term-future. He outlines how the food, health and consumer products industry can embrace these new disruptive trends, but at the same time, restore the human experience. Weaving together storytelling, humor, inspiration and actionable takeaways, Shawn explores how we can take unexpected approaches to innovation to remain competitive and relevant.

Jessica Holmes
Mental Health Advocate, Author, Celebrated Comedian,

Beloved comedian Jessica Holmes has been a perennial favourite on Royal Canadian Air Farce for 15 years, and has brought the house down opening for giants such as Ellen DeGeneres, Russell Peters, Jerry Seinfeld, and Oprah Winfrey. Her hilarious take on life’s challenges as well as her unique knack for impersonating celebrities, including Shakira and Celine Dion, have audiences in stitches. Her customized emcee and entertainment presentations — which include motivation and wellness — are always a hit.

Behind the laughter though, Holmes, like millions of Canadians, has struggled both with post-partum depression and, as she puts it, “regular, run-of-the-mill, garden-variety depression”. Hoping to help end the stigma around mental health issues, she openly shares her personal stories with the humour she’s known for, bringing light — and laugh-out-loud laughter — to what can often be a dark topic. Holmes’ funny and inspiring book, Depression The Comedy: A Tale of Perseverance, takes readers deeper into her mental health journey with validation and warmth.

As a performer, Holmes’ productions have garnered her a Platinum Award at The Worldfest International Film Festival, and nominations for Gemini Awards and the prestigious Tim Sims Scholarship. She has starred in her own program, The Holmes Show, and also in the films Welcome to Mooseport, Citizen Duane, and Moonpoint. She also appeared in the pilot for The Communist’s Daughter, which won the JFL ComedyPro competition in 2018, and continues to perform comedy across the country.
